Great uses of points that have nothing to do with flights or hotels
Not every good redemption is a trip. Some of the best value sitting in a points balance has nothing to do with a flight or a hotel room — it's a ticket, an experience, or an event most people never think to check for.
Capital One x MLB tickets
Capital One's partnership with MLB includes a small block of "Cardholder Exclusive" tickets for nearly every home game — 4 per game, premium lower-level or infield seats, 5,000 miles flat. Comparable seats often retail $100–300+, against a standard Capital One redemption value of roughly 1–1.5¢/mile. Look specifically for "Cardholder Exclusive tickets by Capital One" — tickets marked "powered by Vivid Seats" are the same portal but ordinary value.
Choice Privileges college gameday experiences
Choice Hotels partners with Learfield each football season to offer VIP college sports packages — premium tickets, sideline passes, stadium tours, sometimes a hotel stay — for 25,000 to 175,000 points. Real-world redemptions have documented 2–3¢ per point, well above Choice's typical value. First come, first served, and past seasons have sold out within hours of launch — this runs annually during football season, so it's worth watching for rather than a permanent standing offer.
Hilton Honors America Experiences
A one-time promotion tied to America's 250th anniversary in 2026 — not a recurring program, so don't expect it back next year. Twelve road trip packages redeemable for just 250 Hilton points each, including multiple Hampton by Hilton nights and a fuel gift card. One package alone bundled over $5,000 in gas and two weeks of hotel stays. Only one of each package existed, released on a first-come, first-served basis starting May 2026.
More of these get added here as they're found and verified.
